Michael is one of the best hairdressers I've ever had. I have thick, wavy hair and am extremely picky. I've lived in 8 different countries and been in Australia for 7 years and Michael is hands down the best I've had in this country. I've seen his cut and colour on other customers with different hair to mine and all look fantastic. As my hair is longer I only needed to see him once every 2-3 months and the shape only looked nicer as it grew out. Most hairdressers can make you look nice when you leave but the good ones have you looking great long after seeing you!

First time visit today. I am so pleased - excellent service from Rhianne and Michael- along with Frederick. Perfect colour matching with my way overdue COVID lockdown hair. Salon ambiance is perfect, some good music not too loud, no doof doof so a conversation with your stylist can happen. Michael cut my hair and styled it exactly as I wanted - all with a minimum of fuss. I am looking forward to my next visit. Its taken 10 years living in this city to finally find a salon that meets and exceeds expectations - thanks guys!

I wasn’t having any recent luck with haircuts in my hometown, so thought I’d look at reviews for hairdressers on the web. I choose Edge hairdressers in O’Connor. I waited a couple of months for an appointment with Michael (cut) and Halle (colour). I wanted something different that would brighten me up and lift my joie de vivre!!! Well I chose the right place!! Halle provided great advice about colour that would suit my complexion as well as something I’d be really happy with. I showed Michael a couple of styles I liked but basically I gave him carte blanche to weave his magic. I can choose whether I want to ‘bother ’ with styling or let things happen naturally. I’m truly delighted with my new style - it makes me feel light, fashionable and attractive. And I think it matches my young at heart attitude to life! Thank you thank you thank you Michael and Halle. You’ve lifted this gals’ spirit to a new level

I'm fairly new to Canberra and I was referred to Michael by a friend. He's been cutting my hair (short style) now since April and I couldn't be happier. The salon has a friendly vibe and it's easy to park which is always a bonus! Michael is passionate about his profession and he's fabulous at what he does! He's careful to select the team around him as well, I recommend Edge Haircutters without hesitation.

I've been coming to Michael for years and he never disappoints with a chic style. I've always given him carte blanche and come out 100% happy with very short, medium and longer styles. He never bothers me with needless chitchat either, he really knows his customer! I also take my almost ten year-old to the salon for her cuts. They have had several stylists who have all been wonderful with kids and as stylists.

I can’t recommend Michael enough, he cuts hair so well. I have been going there for 5 years, I really trust his opinion about what length works best, I have lots of hair nd he thins it out really well each haircut, no other hairdresser has managed to do before! I cant imagine going anywhere else and being this happy, the salon is lovely, easy to find, it has a good coffee shop nearby, it’s easy to find a park and it’s free for 2 hrs, I can’t recommend him enough, prices are reasonable too!

The haircuts I've had have always been good and i've had cuts from a few senior cutters. can't complain on the cutting front. The salon does risk though pushing customers away with some of the behaviour I've witnessed over my last few cuts. * They often seem more focused on talking to each other than talking to their clients. * I've witnessed them discuss clients once they've left the salon (while complimentary about how stunning one client was, still probably not appropriate for me to hear. Makes me think what do they say about other clients when they've left?). * I know apprentices are often young and I also understand a lot of hairdresses will cut their friend's hair but sitting next to a apprentice discussing with their client/friend who's fighitng with who at school, who's pregnant but not with their baby daddy, who deleted who from Facebook. I just felt like I was at highschool. Again I know i've had discussions with cutters about tacky tv shows so not all conversations are interlectual but maybe it's just something to consider or don't sit an older client right next to the young ones.

My first hair cut with Michael today and I couldn't be happier. I had a shampoo, cut and blow dry. I walked in looking like a troll and walked out feeling like a goddess. I went there based on reviews, and am pleased to add mine. This man is more than a hairdresser - he's an artist! The other staff were also very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely be back. Book ahead though - he's in demand.

First time at Edge today. Michael cut my hair beautifully. It was very long and straggly and is now shoulder length with all the bounce and curl I wanted. His experience really showed. He listened to what I wanted and I trusted he knew how to cut my hair type to get the style I wanted - he didn't disappoint. He also took the time to explain how to apply a particular product to get the most curl out of my hair when I let it dry naturally. Also, no pushy sales either. Really happy.

I had my first visit with Michael today and he was fantastic! The haircut I described and showed him was exactly what I got. He was responsive and attentive and answered all of my questions with regard to my face/head shape. The resultant cut is easy to maintain and minimal styling required. I chose this hairdresser because I look at reviews online. I read reviews to find out more about the actual end result, so for Michael, hands down, best haircut I've had!

Had my first cut and colour with Jennie last week, I am very happy with the results. The cut was exactly what I wanted and I took Jennie's advice re the colour and I frickin love it! A lovely salon that isn't overly noisy and has a relaxing feel. Jennie is a genuinely nice gal and an amazing hairdresser! One very happy customer here :)

Jennie from Edge has been cutting my hair for a few years now. Although I'm a guy with short hair and my haircut is pretty basic, she always does a good job. Cracks me up with her hilarious sense of humour too. I always leave in a good mood. :-) They are usually busy so make an appointment well in advance.

As a man, I found the staff incredibly sexist. I walked in, smiled, said hello and asked when the next appointment was. The 2 female staff members at the counter gave me a dirty look and said they would check. One answered a phone call, at which point she suddenly became very warm and accomodating to the female on the other end of the phone, while the other just stood there doing nothing. About 10 minutes passed with them refusing to make any eye contact with me. Eventually I just said I would go somewhere else, instead of telling me when the next available day was they just said in an incredibly rude tone "okay sorry bye". They were clearly glad to rid of me. I am 25 years old with short hair, and am in not in any way disgusting. I can only put this down to sexism.

Finally i found a salon who do a great cut and colour, are not pretentious, are friendly and really listen to what you want as well as offering terrific service. It will be my fourth visit today and i have been very happy to have found Edge. 5 stars.

The atmosphere was cool and calm, the staff was the right mix of friendly and professional, and they did wonders with my hair, which was in pretty bad shape. I have been going to Michael for haircuts and to Krystal for colour for many years--they are terrific! To start, they combine just the right mix of listening to my preferences with gentle advice based on their experience (+face shape, skin colour, lifestyle, etc). and have always come up with just the right cut and colour--absolutely brilliant. Michael sets the tone/atmosphere in the shop-- all the staff are customer-oriented, friendly, competent--they remember names and circumstances and make one feel "home". Sometimes I quietly read during procedures, but mostly, I enjoy the intelligent conversations which can range from politics and the state of the world to family, sports, and everyday activities. Free parking is just outside the door, and grocery shopping (IGA), café food, a chemist, and a PO are just a door or two away.

Being a blonde it's hard to find the perfect colourist that leaves me walking out of the salon feeling satisfied. It's either too yellow or uneven. Krystal gave me the most AMAZING blonde colour I will never go anywhere else! Thanks Krystal! I'm so happy!

Krystal has been cutting and colouring my hair for 3yrs and I always feel extremely confident that I'll be thrilled with the results. Michael has also styled my hair with wonderful results. They aren't the cheapest but you definitely get value for money, I wouldn't go anywhere else in Canberra.

I felt like a new woman after Michael cut my hair the first time! With his talent in considering my head and face shape and the texture of my hair and how it grew, I now had a new, personalised style that was easy for me to replicate at home. Thanks to Jamie, too, for her skilled colouring touches...they were a definite complement to the whole new "look". I'm in good hands now.

I recently moved to Canberra from the U.S. where I was used to an extremely talented master colourist and cutter at a top rated salon in my area. My first experience in Canberra was not a good one and I was starting to contemplate flying back to the U.S. just for my hair. Then I found Edge. Krystal is amazing with colour and Michael is an incredible stylist. I was welcomed into the salon on short notice and came out looking phenomenal and completely wowed. I could not be more happy!

Have been driving about 80 km for regular cut from Michael and colour in more recent years from Krystal for 10 years! Find it best to leave it to them, as never happy when I give input on cut or colour...they know what to do. My hair is straight in dry times and has a crazy mind of its own if any humidity, so not easy to have a style that is always manageable, but Michael does it. A great place to spend a couple of hours every 6 weeks or so. Terrific staff and coffee!

I have had disappointing haircuts for the last couple of years and have been desperately searching for someone who can cut fine hair. I spoke to a lady in my yoga class whose hair was obviously cut by a skilled hairdresser and was recommended to Crystal at Edge. I now have an amazing hair cut and am receiving comments on how good it looks. Once of my friends has already booked an appointment with Crystal. My experience at Edge with Michael as my cutter/stylist was very positive. I arrived with hair that was the result of 3 bad cuts and quite unhappy with my overall style and look. I left with a precision cut that was both classic and stylish. Michael took great care in getting this result. I feel that i could walk through a wind tunnel and come out the other end still looking good. Michael also gave me good advice on methods for achieving alternative styles. More than happy to make Edge and Michael my hairdresser of choice.

Desperate to find a hairdresser who cut hair well, especially as my hair is fabulous and sits just as it should on the day, but the following day is totally different. All manner of kinks and jagged bits appear and it's difficult to handle unless I wash it again and try to style it. So, I held off for a week before I wrote an evaluation...just in case! And to my absolute astonishment my hair sat well throughout the week, and when I finally washed it , all I had to do was shake my head and let it dry. The end result was and is still astounding, friends and even shopkeepers comment. What can I say, MICHAEL is AMAZING! The only problem is that now my friends want to go to him, which is great for them, but what if I then have to book months and months ahead!!!!

I went to Edge for the first time and was very impressed with their service and professionalism. Krystal did my colouring and Michael blow dried my hair. Both gave sound advice and trusting them was worth it. I have very tight curly ringlets and Michael gave me the best blow dry I've ever had. His hands are magic and felt like I walked out red carpet ready. I would strongly recommend Edge for colouring and blow dry.

I won't go anywhere else! I have been going to Edge since it opened and I always enjoy my experience and how my hair looks/feels after I visit. Despite styling my hair for a long time - Michael always asks me what I've liked and if there is anything I'd like to change. I have been coming to Edge for years and I always come out with a great haircut. I usually get Michael to cut my hair. He doesn't just cut your hair, first he considers how a style would suit your face and your hair type then gives advice from decades of experience. He's an artist in his approach and his skill. If you trust him you'll come away with a flattering, stylish haircut. Once I couldn't get Michael and had another guy, who was also a good cutter. I wouldn't go anywhere else now.

The visit to Edge was the first in many years. The staff at Edge made me feel welcome and relaxed. The listened to what I wanted and then gave me what I wanted. Krystal was great, she gave really good advice and is an amazing colour technician. I always have a very good experience at Edge. Michael cut my hair today and made a big effort to give me a new look that suits my hair. It was also really great to see Michael giving tips to one of the lovely younger girls who blow dried my hair. Highly recommended!

Very good - I am always really happy when I have my hair cut here. I think Michael really knows how to cut my hair according to whats right for me. I had my hair colored as well by Krystal (she is very good). Was referred by a friend, so they come highly recommended.

Edge Haircutters at O'Connor are awesome! Michael is the best, he has amazing attention to detail and I always get asked where I get my hair cut when I'm out and about. Krystal is a super talented colourist and always compliments my cut with fabulous colour. My kids always get their hair cut here too and it always looks great.

I suspect I'm one of the 'crazy colour' people that other reviewers have referred to! And they are right- Krystal is a colour expert, and she's not fazed by my ambitious ideas. Michael is always at hand to offer suggestions. Its great to go back to edge because I know they will expect to get creative and provide great service.

Andrei has been doing great cuts and colours for me for years. He is the first hairdresser I've been to in Canberra to have a clue! and I refuse to go to anyone else. I also run into girlfriends lining up to get their hair done by him after deserting their other hairdressers. He's good.

I needed to find a new hairdresser after many years with my previous one. Krystal made me feel very welcome and she does a fabulous job! I have been three times now and will definitely keep going back. I have foils, trim and blow dry ( Long hair). The massage chair while you are having your hair washed is "heaven on a stick"!

I have been going to Krystal at the Edge for about 5 years now and I am very happy with what she does for my hair. She advises on cut and colour but never imposes her tastes on me, unlike some other hair stylists. She is quite the colour artist, taking a lot of time and effort to get my highlights just right. My colour choices are very natural (but better than Mother Nature) and I have seen her do some wild rainbow colours on other people that look great. I can recommend Krystal as a person who cares about her craft and her customer.

Krystal at Edge Hair has been colouring and cutting my hair for a few years now and she does an amazing job every time. I let Krystal know that before I ever made an appointment for a haircut at Edge, I had observed the staff from outside before I felt confident that I would get at least what I expected when I made my first appointment. I went to Edge upon a friend's suggestion to get my very long hair cut to my shoulders. Michael not only did an awesome job, paying very close attention to detail and checking that I was happy with the style as he went, but also made me feel very confident about a cut that a lot of other hairdressers have been reluctant to do. I have been a customer of Edge for over 10 years and the service has been great. For many years I could not find a hairdresser who could cut , colour or blow dry my hair the way I liked it. Michael the owner at Edge knew exactly how my hair should be styled. He often suggests change and I am always pleased with the result. Krystle, the colourist is very professional and worked hard to get the right formula that ensured the colour stayed in my hair for a while. Others could not do this. All the Staff are very friendly and they provide great coffee as well.

I've been going to Andre at Edge for about 6 years. Sometimes off and on sometimes regularly every 6 - 8 weeks. The whole atmosphere of Edge is excellent. Everyone is lovely and Andre is fantastic. I can go in with a specific idea of what I want or I can just leave it entirely up to him and either way I walk out happy. I've had up dos for special occasions. Several different hair colours; both all over colour and with foils (including the really bright purple and green ones) and it's all been fantastic! My hair is past my shoulders and on my last appointment I got a base colour with several foils and a trim.

I read the online reviews for Edge Haircutters and went on the recommendation of everyone below, and I was not disappointed. I had my haircut with Michael, who is fantastic - very friendly but professional. He was happy to make recommendations as to what hairstyle would suit me, but also to follow my requests as to what I wanted. I can vouch for the fact that he does great long/short bobs which last for longer than expected, which is perfect if you're like me and can't make it to the hairdressers as often as you'd like.

It was the first time that I was able to actually get what I wanted, but also get really good advice about what not to do with my hair. I ended up with a great haircut and a positive experience.

Even though I don't have my hair cut or coloured regularly, I still get treated like a valued customer and feel like I am realy looked after each time I go there. Having put up with a terrible haircut for almost 8 months I decided to go to this salon based on the reviews. I couldn't be happier. Kelly managed to salvage my hair with her expert cutting and was interested in what I liked and didn't like in haircuts. The haircuts suits my face and lifestyle and I will definitely go back. I always go to Andre who does great colour and is fun. He actually does what you ask for (not always the case with hairdressers) and the whole salon is nice and friendly. have been going for 2 years now since i have been in canberra and have now never gone anywhere else.

Was looking for a new hairdresser in Canberra. Have tried a few since moving from Sydney. After reading the reviews on WOMOW I thought I would check out Edge. My appointment was with Krystal for a hair cut. The service was outstanding from the time I arrived til the time I walked out the door. The staff are all friendly and attentive and Krystal was fantastic. Not only did she cut my hair well she also went to the trouble of showing me how to use the GHD properly to achieve the look myself. I highly recommend this salon.

Michael is one of the best hairdressers in Canberra no doubt! I used to think of myself of a kind of hairhopper ( going from one hair dresser till the next) until I found Edge on Womow! I had tried all the expensive hair salons with the big names and big prices, I am so glad I tried him out and I will definately keep returning! I have long thick hair which is really hard to style and Michael gave me my best cut ever!

I had no trust factor in Canberra hairdressers until I had my hair cut at Edge Haircutters. Michael is a great hairdresser. I received friendly service and professional advice. Michael cut my hair and Amanda did my colour :) Although on the expensive side, I would definitely go back :) I got a half head foils and a styled cut for $209.

Needed to find a hair salon in Canberra and after reading the Womow reviews, decided to give Edge in O'Connor a go. Have to say that they are fantastic! Can't decide which I like better, the fabulous color that I received from Krystal or the awesome cut that Micheal gave me. As a client, I felt they really listened to me about my lifestyle and expectationsâ€¦coupled that with their talents and knowledge of what would suit meâ€¦to achieve an awesome end result. All the staff are very attentive and you really feel like you are being pampered though the whole experience. Expect to spend a little, but it is worth every penny. My partner says it's the nicest haircut he's seen on me yet.

Cut with Michael, colour with Crystal - a friend recommended Michael as 'one of the best cutters' and she wasn't wrong... after four years wandering in the 'can't find a hairdresser' Canberra cold, I wandered into Edge and won't be going elsewhere. Confident that they know what suits you (this is rare - and when a hairdresser is not confident you end up with mixed results), they are capable of producing the required effect, and - if I'm not entirely happy - I can just drop back in with no questions (or awkwardness!) whatsoever (e.g. problem 'This bit here just doesn't want to sit right in the morning...'). Friendly, professional, a pleasure to go to (not to mention the great head massages with the wash).

I had to go to Canberra (from Melbourne) for a wedding and after reading the Vogue thread on-line, where people recommended a hairdresser there I booked myself to Michael (who's supposed to be good with long hair) at Edge for cut and color. Michael told me that he could book me in for that day but someone else would do my color, which was fine by me! Andre (supposedly great with short hair cuts on the forum) ended up doing my color (his suggestion) and it turned out great! He's a great character. I found all the staff were really nice actually and I got a great coffee! Michael did a version of a Nicole Ritchie cut for me, cutting most of my hair off, cos I had it really long before. I loved it! Lots of chunky layers (which is what my hair needs) and great shape! It felt like he knew what he was doing and he didn't make me nervous- he was confident in his work. I'll definately be back there if I'm back in Canberra. It was cheaper than I thought too! I think $175.
